Project 11

PROJECT 11, a short film slated for release on 11.11.11 has been shot in 11 countries across the world in a shoe string budget of 9 lakhs, entirely self funded by the makers. In this unique initiative by two film enthusiasts, PROJECT 11 is probably the first of its kind in short the film genre which bridges a vast geographical divide. The film was made with an idea to raise funds for their feature film on the same lines. They decided to release it on 11.11.11, which is a once in a lifetime date.

PROJECT 11 is a High-Concept thriller, which blurs the line between the real and the virtual world. The film has been shot in 11 different cities in the world. This experimental film has 11 eminent directors collaborating from world over.  Take a look at the trailer here.

Unlike a lot of collaborative films, PROJECT 11 is not an episodic film. It is one holistic story set in 11 cities with 11 principal characters. The film has been made in three cuts a 22-minute, a 15-minute and an 11-minute, which are full fledged films in their own rights.

Talking about this unique short film, Producer, Ranjan Singh said, "PROJECT 11 is an attempt to show that good content can be created on a shoestring budget. Also, to get appropriate funds for our feature film on the same lines, the short will work as a curtain raiser. And thus we want to release the film online and gauge the audience reaction for this kind of a story. The film premieres on 11.11.11 on glamsham.com at 11.11 AM and then later we want to put it for download on various other platforms."
11 filmmakers were shortlisted from across the world, by using every free medium available including every possible social networking portal. They followed a locked screenplay and shot their respective segments based in their cities. A Storyboard was prepared in active consultation with the filmmakers and then sent to the extended directorial team for reference. The final material was received in Mumbai and then put together by Vikas Chandra with the help of editor Geeta Singh.

This articles endeavours to sensitise the readers towards celebrating an environmentally safe Diwali by pointing out the major impacts that Diwali has on our environment. It is hoped that this articles will encourage you to celebrate a green Diwali, where there will be an explosion of joy without crackers!

How to celebrate an Eco Sensitive Diwali?
Now, that you are interested in celebrating an Eco - Sensitive Diwali, the first thing that you need to do is to make yourself aware about the effects the traditional Diwali celebrations has on the Mother Nature. Given below are three major environmental impacts that Diwali Festival have on our environment.
  1. Air Pollution through Firecrackers
  2. Excessive Consumerism
  3. High Energy Consumption
1. Air Pollution through Firecrackers - "Say 'No' to Fire crackers and 'Yes' to life!"
For most people lighting of firecrackers is the highlight of Diwali. Brighter the sparkles, louder the noise the greater the thrill!! In fact to many of us, these aesthetic forms of light seem so appropriate and most essential when celebrating the 'Festival of Lights'.

But little do people realize that in our increasingly populated and polluted cities, the temporary joy of watching the firecrackers is soon replaced by the intense air pollution caused by these. The toxic substances used in the firecrackers release toxic gases that are harmful to the health of all living beings. The high level of noise generated by the crackers cause immense suffering to birds and animals. Besides, Diwali crackers are dreaded by the sick and the ailing.

Sadly, few of us realise that the firecrackers used on Diwali are mostly made by very young children. Since the substances being handled are extremely toxic many of these child labourers get sick and die in their early teenage years.

New engg colleges face vacancy woes

With thousands of engineering seats remaining vacant this year, the ministry of human resource development (HRD) has finally taken a step to check this worrisome scenario.
The All India Council for Technical Education ( AICTE) has been asked by the ministry to seek the opinion of state governments on whether the Council should temporarily stop extending approval to new engineering institutes.
The number of vacant seats at engineering institutions across the country this year has made headlines and was also raised in the Parliament during the last session.

“ The directive ( to AICTE) to seek the opinion of state government was given about two weeks ago. The letter hasn’t been sent to the state governments as yet. It will be done within the next few days,” said a ministry official, who did not wish to be identified.
“ The letter will go to the states where more than 10 per cent of the total seats have found no takers. Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh figure on that list.
“ The idea is to ask them if they want the AICTE to stop extending approval to new engineering institutes for the time being,” said another ministry official.
The AICTE is the only authority empowered to grant recognition to technical courses run by different universities and institutes in the country. The number of engineering institutions which got the Council’s nod has been steadily increasing over the last three years.
The Council approved 2,388 engineering colleges in 2008, 2,942 in 2009 and 3,241 colleges in 2010. In 2010- 11 AICTE recognised the highest number of engineering institutes in Karnataka ( 159) followed by Uttar Pradesh ( 105).

Forensics: Make a career out of solving crime

Who was the world’s first known forensic scientist? History says it is Archimedes. A new crown had been made for King Hiero II. Had the goldsmith added some silver or was it solid gold? Who could solve this mystery without dissolving the crown?

It was Archimedes who solved it. He had noticed that water rising whenever he stepped into a bathtub. He solved the problem based on volume of the crown and the amount of displaced water.
But it was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s creation of Sherlock Holmes in the late nineteenth century that popularised the usage of science in solving crimes. It is the scene of the crime that often leads to the culprit. Enter the forensic scientist; it’s his job to collect evidences at the crime scene.
Though the field has existed for years yet, it is still not a career option for many despite being exposed to a TV series like CSI (Crime Scene Investigation) and plethora of detective stories.
But, have you ever thought of exploring the field as a career? Riddhi N. Parekh had the opportunity to participate in ‘Awareness week’ at her college during graduation. She was inspired to enter the world of Forensics for PG studies.

“It is challenging, the non-availability of crime scenes as part of study, being the only sad part,” expresses Riddhi, a second-year student of MSc Forensic Science. But this didn’t stop her from showing up at the scene of a robbery committed near her house, where she helped collect firsthand forensic evidence.

Leadership Lessons from M.S. Dhoni

The story of Mahendra Singh Dhoni is nothing short of a fairy-tale.

It's about an ordirnary man who went on to do extraordinary things owing to his sheer grit and “intelligent” daredevilry. And, as they say that fortune favours the brave, luck, too has been on his side.

You don't need to be a cricket fan to take stock of his leadership skills. True, that Team India lost humiliatingly in the test and one-day series against England but this does not place his leadership skills under scrutiny. His rare quality of extracting benefits from criticism had made India win matches and he himself won the hearts of millions of people. Managers and entrepreneurs can learn so much from him and then apply it to their real life situations.

Some Inspirational Quotes by Dhoni
“I never predict what will happen in cricket. We believe in each other and we believe in the process.”
“We are not thinking about what may happen if we achieve or what may happen if we don't succeed because those two things are beyond our control.
“We take each game in the right frame of mind”
“We don't rely on one specific individual. We expect everybody to contribute.” (Worklife, MensXP.com)

Facebook encourages drug, alcohol abuse in teens: Study

LONDON: How much time does your child spend on Facebook? Teenagers who regularly use social networking sites are much more likely to drink, smoke and use marijuana, a new study has claimed.
The Columbia University study of 1,000 American teenagers aged between 12 and 17 years found that those who used such sites daily were five times more likely to smoke tobacco than those who did not.
Similarly, they are three times more likely to drink alcohol and twice as likely to use marijuana.
The poll also found that 70 per cent of those interviewed said they used social networking sites on a typical day, while 30 per cent did not, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One of the main reasons for going on such sits, besides actually communicating with friends, is to keep tabs on peers by looking at their photographs.
But the study found that pictures of teenagers "drunk, passed out, or using drugs on Facebook and other sites" were "rampant".
However, parents seemed unaware that browsing such sites could increase their child's likelihood of abusing drink or drugs, with almost nine in 10 believing it did not have an effect on them, the researchers said.
Joseph Califano, founder of National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at the university, called on operators of Facebook and others to instigate tighter controls to block such photographs.
"The time has come for those who operate and profit from social networking sites like Facebook to deploy their expertise to curb such images and to deny use of their sites to children and teens who post pictures of themselves and their friends drunk, passed out or using drugs," he said.

The survey also found that one in five teenagers claimed to have been bullied online.

Corruption- some views

The current systems of the world has many loopholes and problems. In them, Corruption is on the high edge.
Most of countries has been affected by this warm more or less. It is obvious that, in India there is no corruption in the system of government, government just simply follows the corruption!!! It is like having treatment of disease become disease itself and there is no hope of curing from it.
The Democracy is a great anatomy for any country which is developing itself currently. But, Change is life. Our approach is only our destiny. Whatever the system may cause, one should do only what should be done as on the basis of legal and governmental perspectives.
The experienced persons are holding the government on their arms and just blaming each other and finding their own safe sides. Duties are there. Responsibilities are there. Authorities are there. Then why one should need to give bribe? why one should take bribe? A per the economy, needs of a person are increasing faster than income.
It directly means that person will find the way to satisfy all his needs. And so, Corruption takes place.
It can be cured by some ways, though it is difficult, but not impossible..

First of all, each and every person has to decrease his needs. For that, he must change his lifestyle and live according to his revenue. He must not compare himself to other by his repositories.
One should take his responsibility to the society, to the country, to the government by himself.
And person can only do this or think to do this if and only if he has full trust on government, society.
Also it is desirable to make yourself true before giving advices or making complaints to others.

If anyone has any suggestions regarding this subject, comment please.

Use of Internet affecting our memory, finds study

New York, July 15 (ANI): Researchers have found that the widespread use of search engines and online databases is affecting the way people remember information.

To know whether people were more likely to remember information that could be easily retrieved from a computer, Betsy Sparrow, an assistant professor of psychology at Columbia and her collaborators, Daniel M. Wegner of Harvard and Jenny Liu of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, staged different memory experiments, reports the New York Times.

In one experiment where participants typed 40 bits of trivia, the team found that the subjects were significantly more likely to remember information if they thought they would not be able to find it later.
"Participants did not make the effort to remember when they thought they could later look up the trivia statement they had read," wrote the authors.

A second experiment was aimed at determining whether computer accessibility affects precisely what we remember.
"If asked the question whether there are any countries with only one colour in their flag, for example," the researchers wrote, "do we think about flags - or immediately think to go online to find out?"
In this case, participants were asked to remember both the trivia statement itself and which of five computer folders it was saved in. The researchers were surprised to find that people seemed better able to recall the folder.
"That kind of blew my mind," Dr. Sparrow said.

The experiment explores an aspect of what is known as transactive memory - the notion that we rely on our family, friends and co-workers as well as reference material to store information for us.

The Internet's effects on memory are still largely unexplored, Dr. Sparrow said, adding that her experiments had led her to conclude that the Internet has become our primary external storage system.
"Human memory," she said, "is adapting to new communications technology." (ANI)

10 Myths About Your Brain

It's true that a lot is not yet known about the most fascinating organ in our body, the brain. However, recent scientific studies have proved one thing... that a lot we knew about our brains is just a myth.
Just imagine, we thought earlier that 'we use only 10 percent of our brains'. Nope, we use most parts of it for different everyday activities. According to the Smithsonian.com, 'Brains are expensive—it takes a lot of energy to build brains during fetal and childhood development and maintain them in adults.
Evolutionarily, it would make no sense to carry around surplus brain tissue. Experiments using PET or fMRI scans show that much of the brain is engaged even during simple tasks, and injury to even a small bit of brain can have profound consequences for language, sensory perception, movement or emotion.

Here are some more myths about your brain:
                          1. "Flashbulb memories" are precise, detailed and persistent.
                          2. It's all downhill after 40 (or 50 or 60 or 70).
                          3. We have five senses.
                          4. Brains are like computers.

Social Networking

Social Networking can be really challenging. We aren’t super tech savvy and when we were finally able to get on Linked In, Ed wasn’t sure what to do next. He thought he was only inviting just a few new colleagues and work contacts but what he actually did was inadvertently invite EVERYONE we had ever sent an email to, including Deb’s 88-year-old mother.
We only knew this had happened when we started to receive hundreds of ‘accepts’ from everyone you can dream of, including three people Ed used to know but, due to difficult circumstances, he no longer had anything to do with. In Buddhist terms these people are simply known as the enemy – anyone you had a hard time with or who is having a difficult time with you.
Our friend Kiri roared with laughter when we told her. She said it also happen to her and happens more often than we may realize. “What many of us fail to realize is that with a simple click of the mouse our worlds open up far and wide and, along with long lost friends, people we have consciously chosen to close out of our lives come tumbling back in. Suddenly we are faced with having to reject them again or to open up and accept their online offerings of friendship.”

    Ajax Vs Jquery

    1. JQuery is a lightweight client side scripting library while AJAX is a combination of technologies used to provide asynchronous data transfer
    2. jQuery and AJAX are often used in conjunction with each other
    3. jQuery is primarily used to modify data on the screen dynamically and it uses AJAX to retrieve data that it needs without changing the current state of the displayed page
    4. Heavy usage of AJAX functions often cause server overload due to the greater number of connections made

    World Cup 2011

    Hurray!!
We want Sachin..We want Sachin.. louder and louder the crowd is.May be the last season of Sachin is coming. All world cup seasons are very attracting and interesting to watch. But in this season, there might be more thrill than before. Because Indian cricket Team is on spotlight. India is No one contender to win this world cup. There is also a fear in viewers that India might not lose matches with an ease. I will be very shameful and disguised if it will happen. But lets hope for the best. May Sachin will blast and take a cup with glory.!
We want world-cup. lets pray for players and give support and maintain thrill !!

    Patriotism

    Jai Hind,
India is great. We all know this. I am here to let you know that we all Indians have patriotism.
But the problem is there are some layers shaded on that feeling. If you talk about your country, someone comments like that its just talking. India can not be improved. There are many major problems here.
But, main problem is approach. If we are having bad days, we still hope that we will be having great days in near future. But this thought can not be continued with our country. We are lagging in some basic and necessary parts, because of some ridiculous mentality of our people. Think and do. Just go through and stay hard.

Long Live India, Long Live Indians (with improved approach)
    Jai Hind

    Addiction

    Facebook,
The best and common example of addiction. But here some doubts in general people's mind. Addiction is actually what you think? Addiction is not limited to drugs, or alcohol or social networking sites. Addiction can be of any type and at any level. If your habit crosses the limit, then it is called addiction. Simple. There is no need to give more explanation here. This is my belief. But If you still doubt my thinking, give comment. I will let you know what you know and what you should know.

    Homicide

    Home Sweet Home,

OOPS! What is this? Yeah. Home... Yelling at home. It does matter.
Think that We had a long vacation with our family for 10 days, and after enjoying that vacation, we have just reached home, and how we FEEL? WOW.. Its good to see a home. It feels like relax. We can now feel safer than anywhere. Why ? Is there a reason? Yes, Of course. dears.!! We, humans are very comfortable with those things with which we are totally aware. We can move around our home very freely, and we have no fear of losing something. Homicide is a place where you might born, you might expand your most of moments of your life longer at this place. So for this reason, when you change your home and shift somewhere else, its an odd feeling inside us. We are very eager to stay at new place, but we miss something that we have already felt that old place. That is the hidden attachment of our life....

    Alcohol

    Hello friends,
Blogs are not only for fun. I am very attached to the people who have got trapped in alcoholic spider. Why should I show mercy? There is a reason my friends. There are lot of reasons people get started to take alcohol. And escaping that part, everything happened to their life, is not in control of his/her own life. Alcohols are very string to be you weak, both mentally and physically. I am not a doctor to instruct you, but rather I am a human. And I believe that "Humanity is greater than humans". So don't behave odd to alcoholic people. Just give twists to their life. A turn which can be a graceful to be happy and to make others' happy.

Thank you all to read this para.

    Creations

    Boring? Find some interesting here.!!
Creations are described by many ways.

You can just say that anything you develop or create, that can be called as creation.
Now the point is that, is it only the thing? Do we miss something? There are many aspects. You can think that you just see one dream, and in that, whatever you create rather virtually, but that is your creation ultimately. So, there is no scope of thinking. Take an example of POET, If a poet writes his own poem, that can be called his creativity.

    Blog

    Hello dears,
I am here to take you in one different world. i am asking a simple and basic question. What is a blog? Why one should refer a blog? What is the main advantage to open a blog regularly? The answer is not so much simple and not so much complex. I am here to tell you that BLOG looks like private page of anonymous provider. But that is not true.

BLOG is actually to enhance our thinking by sharing great ideas and information to help each others and to reconnect the supplements as humans. So basically, blog means a part of a whole web application. Because normally we found that blog has some own limitations as compared to websites. So we generally avoid to use blogs when we take up the WWW.

I just want to redirect your idealization and enlarge your scope to retain the flexibility you already have.
Something you can discuss here like your own obligations and implementations. You can relax yourself by giving your contribution to the blog or any activity you like.

Do not think that blog is for getting good information only. Actually BLOG can be viewed as to get FILTERED information and in addition to that, there has been a lot of work to do.
